Spoonful Sugar, Spoonful Goals

Every new year, many people create resolutions and goals to make their new years more meaningful and productive. Goals and resolutions keep people accountable and make their lives "sweeter" even though they may be hard to accomplish throughout a year. Here I am with spoonful goals like sugar you can put in a cup of Joe:

1. Bringing back an artistic part of my life!

Since I was little, I have loved painting, drawing, and making crafts! However, for last year, I prioritized other things going on in my life like academics, sports, and social life and put my artistic hobby behind myself. I miss the specific joy and peace I got from creating an art. This year, I want to intentionally make time to create an art. I have started my first knitting project during this winter break; I painted boring covers of my Bible journal into textured blue and pastel-yellow layers; I am going to learn printmaking throughout this semester; I am planning on having a mural project in my dorm building soon and I am very stoked to be a designer and leading painter for it! Disregarding the size of art, I am going to continuously seek opportunities and time to do "art"!

2. Reading more than 6 books

Honestly, I suck at reading...What I mean by that is I am a really slow reader, and because of my speed I do not always enjoy reading. However, I know reading books can help me developing my inner self. With the consideration of myself a s a slow reader, I am going to aim to read more than 6 books. These 6 books can be short books.

3. Self-Love and Confidence

I often get insecure about my body and my personalities. I have ignored people's reminders that I am a beautiful person because I know that humans are socially expected to encourage others especially when a person is discouraged. I do not want empathy. Even though people's reminder about the beauty in me is not always from empathy, I learned that reminders from myself is more powerful than reminders from others. I do not know how I can work on self-love and confidence so please leave a comment if you have any suggestion!

4. Knowing the Bible better

So until now, when I read the Bible, I focused on messages or themes of a specific section or chapter of a book. I do not much about history illustrated throughout the Bible. I want to KNOW God, not about God, and I believe that knowing the history will help me to make a step toward knowing Him. I am going to start with the Old Testament in the Bible.

5. Praying more

Oh yes. In order to KNOW God, building the relationship with God is very significant. I want to be always willing to pray about everything to Him.

6. Literal Balance!

So few days ago, my friends and I went to beach in Southern California and I got an opportunity to learn slack-lining for the first time. It was challenging. I could barely get on it; I could barely make three baby steps. and probably it is because my poor inflexibility and balancing skills. I know this may sound like a small goal but I think the size of a goal does not matter.

Hey friends! Please feel free to ask me how I am doing with these goals throughout 2019! That will totally keep me accountable. Happy 2019 and I pray that your 2019 is with our Lord, our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Blessing,

Jo
