As a little girl, I woke up with the smell of freshly brewed coffee that my parents made every morning. The deeply roasted scent that goes through my nose and soul gently whispered on me that it is the time to start a new day.
As a young adult, coffee has brought me joy not only by its scent but also by its taste. When I am in Korea, my mom and I go to a coffee shop in our town to get works done; when my high school friends and I got reunited in seven months, we spent 3 hours in a small coffee shop in Long Beach, California; I french-press coffee in my college dorm before I get into studying. Coffee has been a part of many of my days.
so coffee being a part of my life and this blog...what is the connection? Well, that is a great question. If you have had cups of various coffee, you would have realized differences in taste. Tastes of coffee are differentiated by various factors: origins of coffee beans, methods of brewing coffee, and most importantly, how coffee beans are roasted. Based on the length of roasting, they are commonly identified as light, medium, and dark-roasted.
Light roasted coffees tend to have uniquely sour and bright flavors. These coffees are roasted in order to preserve the unique characteristics of the bean.
Medium roasted coffees have rounded flavor profile. They are balanced, well rounded, and are slightly darker and sweeter.
Dark roasted coffees are low in acidity, heavy body, and tend to reveal deeper, darker flavors.
Similar to coffees, my life consists of light colorful tastes but also deep dark flavors. I would like to share stories of my life with such metaphor of coffee. Through this blog, I will be sharing from light to heavy contents reflecting my life. PIus! I will be sharing coffee shops I get to go through this blog:)
Enjoy!
